A brief history of the Parish:

There have been few Catholics in Hospet for many years even before the Franciscan Missionaries took charge of the Mission. About the year 1920, Fr. Koperdraad, a Dutch Mill Hill Father, parish priest of Cowl Bazaar Church, who served the Community at Hospet, built a small chapel for the Catholics of Hospet town. Hampi and Kampli were its substations. In the year 1947, Fr. Fidelis Magee, OFM went to Hosapete as the first resident priest and lived in a rented house. The foundation stone for this Church was laid by Fr. Justin, ofm, the Provincial of the English Friars, during his visitation of the Mission in 1956. Fr. Fidelis Magee, as the Parish Priest built the present Church which was blessed on Jan 13th 1960 by Bishop John Forest Hogan ofm, the then Bishop of Bellary and converted the old chapel into a presbytery. Belfry was donated by one of the Parishners. In 2010 Fr. Anthony Fernandes built the Parish Community Hall and was inaugurated by Bishop Henry D’ Souza. Foundation stone laid and new church building is started by Fr.Charles Sunder Raj which is in progress.
