BDDS Distributes Emergency Relief Material to Flood Victims

BELLARY, OCT. 06: The Bellary Diocesan Development Society (BDDS) distributed relief material with food items to 90 families today Oct. 06 to the flood victims in and around Bellary. These families have lost their houses completely during the last week floods which caused havoc in large areas of north Karnataka. Beside, BDDS held a prolonged meeting today morning with the representatives of the Caritas India and Catholic Relief Services at the Bishop’s House, Bellary. Later, the team visited Siddarthnagar, Dammaur, Koloor, Koralagundi, Sridharagadde and Kapgal villages in Bellary district. The Coordination Committee which met in BDDS is “planning to provide clothing, medical care and food grains to some of the worst affected areas of Raichur district in the in a day or two” said the BDDS Director, Fr Paul Raj. Meanwhile a central coordination committee has been sent up at BDDS to coordinate and monitor relief work. The members of the committee are as follows: President: Rev. Fr. Chowrappa Y. Director: Fr. Paul Raj Office Coordination: Srs. Theodore, Elizabeth, Sleeva, Mr. John, Anand, Vikram and Raymond. Relief Material Mobilization: Srs. Shantha, Rosily, Elizabeth and Divya. Medical Relief: Sr. Mary Varghese, Fr. Ivan Pinto, Sr Narciza, and Mr. Pushparaj.
