KOWTAL, JUL 17: A newly built Navchetana High School building was inaugurated on July 17 at Kowtal, in Raichur district.

Inaugurating and blessing the new building, Bishop of Bellary, Henry D’Souza insisted, “education should bring about social transformation by breaking the dehumanizing walls of casteism, poverty and decadent social practices.”

“Education today cannot stop at attaining excellence individually, it should bring about a social change and usher in a new society in which all humans live in dignity and peace”, added Bishop.

The new building is an extension of the ground floor, the first floor and a library.

The donors of the building are Kindermissionswerk and the sponsors of Vandane Project of Germany. Miss Mona and Mr. & Mrs. Kriegler are the dedicated coordinators of the Vandane children’s sponsorship project.

The new building was completed under the leadership of Fr. Devanesan, the immediate past parish priest of Kowtal. The first part of the building was completed when Fr. Vijay Kumar was the parish priest.

The school caters to the much backward area of Raichur district and most of the children attending the school are from the so called “casteless” section of the society.

The inaugural function was well organized by the present parish priest Fr. A. Joseph. Fr Anand Prasad is the Assistant parish priest and Sr. Flavia Kanti the headmistress of the Navchetana Higher Primary School.
