Newly Renovated HB Halli Church Blessed

BELLARY, MAY 02: The newly renovated church at Hagaribommana Halli was blessed on April 30 by Bishop Henry D’Souza.

With an aesthetically built altar and sanctuary, the church renovation was led by the present parish priest Fr. Danappa.

The ceremony was rendered more meaningful by conferring the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion to three families.

All those who attended the programme had a word of appreciation for the tireless work put in by the parish priest in that small parish with almost no financial resources.

In his homily Bishop D’Souza recalled how Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Samuel and David erected altars to offer worship to God. He reminded the Faithful that while we offer sacrifice on the altars, we should forget the words of Jesus: “what I need is mercy, not just merely sacrifice”.

“Paul appreciated the charity offerings of the Philippians as fragrant offerings”, recalled Bishop.

“The entire work of renovation was done with the contribution from the church school teachers and a handful of faithful”, stated Fr. Danappa.

After the Holy Eucharist, all present enjoyed a fellowship meal.

HB Halli mission was started in 1995. Fr. Antony Puthenkulam was the first priest to stay there in a rented house.

Fr. Jai Praksh Francis took charge in 1997.

The newly built presbytery and church were blessed on March 9, 2000.

Later Krista Sharan School was started in the place.

Fr. Danappa has also undertaken the extension of the school building.
