BELLARY, JULY 21: Thirty newly built houses for the victims of 2009 floods were inaugurated at Muddangudi village in Raichur district July 21.

The new houses were built jointly by Caritas India, KROSS, Bellary Diocese Development Society (BDDS), and local NGO Vimukti.
The Director of the BDDS, Fr. Paulraj coordinated the entire venture and worked hard to make the project a success with the help of local parish priest Fr. Anthonyraj, ofm cap.
After blessing the new houses and declaring them open, Bishop of Bellary Henry D’Souza congratulated the partner organisations and the BDDS Director for successfully completing the projects, in spite of many problems.
Also, Bishop D’Souza lauded the hard work put in by the house owners, who at times had to struggle hard to chip in their mite to the project.
Bishop D’Souza urged the owners of the new houses to build better families filled with love, sharing and strong faith in the Divine.
Engineer Benjamin John was honoured at the modest function.
It may be recalled that due to incessant rains thousands of people lost their houses and belongings during the October floods of 2009.
BDDS made a major intervention to provide relief and rehabilitation to the flood victims in the districts of Bellary, Koppal and Raichur.
More houses are being built at Hanchinal and Dumti villages of Raichur district and in Bellary city.
