Yuvotsava Held In Bellary; Youth Pledge To Foster Leadership

altBELLARY, DEC 18: Yuvotsava 2011, a convention of catholic youth of Bellary diocese was held Dec. 16-18, at St. Anthony’s Community Centre, Bellary.

257 youth from Bellary, Koppal and Raichur districts participated enthusiastically and pledged to foster leadership both within the Church and in the society, particularly in areas such as political life and social development.

Inaugurating the three-day youth festival, Bishop of Bellary urged the youth “to fearlessly declare their friendship with Jesus” and “cultivate a sense of the church by making available their talent and energy for the service of the Church, which their mother”.

“As most of belong to the socially backward and economically emerging community, you need to avail of divine grace to prepare oneself to exercise formidable and transformative leadership in the society”, stated Bishop.

Popular local leader and Member of Parliament Anil Lad urged youth “to be guided by moral values and cultivate an abiding desire to serve the country”.

Political leader and philanthropist Suryanarayan Reddy insisted on the need of having “strong commitment to the society and the life and teachings of great religious founders should provide inspiration to youth in their pursuit of leadership”.

The first two days of the convention was animated by a noted charismatic preacher Fr. Roman Pinto and his team.

The other resource persons included Mohammed Pir Saheb, Nivedit Alva, Shirley and Fr. Arokianathan.

The yuvotsava was ably organized by the diocesan youth director Fr. Mari Joseph, youth president Martin, ICYM Committee and the Jesus Youth representatives Preena and Violet.
