New Anugraha School Building For Differently Abled Children Opened In Bellary

BELLARY, JUNE 29: The newly built school building for differently abled children was inaugurated on June 29 at Bellary.


Fully funded by the Anugraha Foundation in memory of late Y. Umadevi and late Y. Mahabaleshwarappa, it is dream of project of Sri Basavaraj, Srimathi Neelamma  and their family members, ably supported by the Bishop of Bellary.


Gavisiddeswara Mahaswamji of Gavi Mutt, Koppal inaugurated the new building.

Readings from the holy scriptures of different religions preceded the blessing and inauguration.


Bishop of Bellary Henry D’ Souza who is the president of Anugraha Foundation, blessed the new school building.


Bishop D’Souza lauded the philanthropic work of the Basawaraj family which is promoting the noble cause of service to the physically and mentally challenged children of Bellary.


Bishop D’ Souza declared that Anugraha Foundation and the Anugraha School are the shining symbols of inter-religious service to humanity.


New building was inaugurated by Sri Gavisiddeswara Mahaswamiji, Karthik, Basavaraj Satish Yeachareddy, Sr. Linette, AC and other members of the Foundation by lighting the traditional lamp.



While lighting the lamp, “Asathoma Satgamaya, Thamasoma Jyothirgamaya, Mirthyoma Amirthamgamaya, Ohm, Shanthi, Shanthi, Shanthi…”, which means “Lord lead me from untruth to truth, darkness to light, death to life, O Lord lead us. Peace, Peace, Peace.”


Addressing the gathering the Swamiji lauded the services rendered by Sri Mahabaleshwarappa  and his sons to the society, particularly in Bellary and appreciated the noble initiative such as Anugraha School.


“The substance of all Holy Books is to love one’s neighbour with compassion and never harm others,” quoted the Swamiji.


Addressing the gathering Sr. Linette, Provincial Superior Apostolic Carmel thanked the architect, engineer and other labourers who worked hard to complete the building in a year’s time. She also assured the service of the sisters of Apostolic Carmel to the differently abled children of Bellary.


Sri BL Anand Rao, Governor, Governor RotaryDistrict 3160, lauded the services of Anugraha.


“They are special children and to be treated with love and dignity,” ¬†reminded Kartik Yeachareddy in his brief, yet moving message. ¬†


The school building designed and built to be user friendly for differently abled persons. It has 10 classrooms, 3 rooms for rehabilitation purposes, one a computer lab and a media room and an amphitheatre for 100 people.

About 3 acres land was donated by Satish Yeachareddy to the Anugraha Foundation for the school purpose. 


Presently 41 students are enrolled in the school,  which is run by the Sisters of Apostolic Carmel.


Sisters Christine, Juliana, Mercita amd Ms. Mathamma are serving in the school.

Bishop of Bellary is the president of the Foundation and Y. Basavaraj is the Author/Trustee. Y. Satish, Y. Harish, Fr. Anthonyraj, advocate Mahendranath and Francis Xavier are the other Trustees.


KCWA of Kuwait has supported the Foundation by helping the school to defray its running costs.

Fr. Anthony Raj, Trustee, thanked the gathering.

The opening programme ended with the National Anthem and a fellowship meal.
