BELLARY, AUGUST 2 (Sagaya): A double jubilee celebration – the golden jubilee of religious life of Sr. Theodore Isaac and the silver jubilee of Convent of Cluny Sisters was held on Aug. 2at Bellary.

The celebration was held in Nava Jeevana centre for physically challenged children, Cantonment, Bellary.

A concelebrated thanksgiving Eucharist led by Bishop Henry D’Souza and¬† many priests from the diocese and out side marked the occasion.

In his homily the Bishop reminded that all are called to be faithful to their calling, as Jesus the High Priest was “faithful to the one who appointed him!”¬† (Heb: 3.2).

Bishop lauded the services of the Cluny Sisters for the physically challenged children and child laborers and expressed gratitude to them.

“Jubilee is an occasion to plead God’s grace for the gift of fidelity as per one’s vocation and an invitation to rededicate oneself to our calling” added the Bishop.

Bishop appealed that the service of church personnel should reflect the very love of God. “All the more people today are hungry for God. Through our service we must give God himself to the people. The most precious gift we can give to people is Jesus himself. His love, compassion, forgiveness must be reflected through our service”, added the Bishop.

A felicitation program followed the Holy Eucharist. Sr. Annette, Provincial of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny reassured the zealous service of the sisters to the Diocese of Bellary and recounted that Nava Jeevana center has been breathing new life trough its varied rehabilitation programs, bringing human dignity, freedom, self-confidence to many hundreds of disadvantaged children. “It is their home away home”, she added.

One of the board members of the institution, Mrs. Shantha Laxmi appreciated the remarkable services of the Sisters for the uplift of hundreds of disabled children and their families.

Speaking at the occasion Fr. Denis Menezes, parish priest of Christ the King Church, recalled the vision of Bishop Ambrose of happy memory who dreamt of a home for the physically challenged.

Sr. Victoria, the convent superior, thanked all those gathered at the occasion and briefed the growth of Nava Jeevana center for the physically challenged children.
