BELLARY, AUGUST 5 (Sagaya): Youth day celebration was held by the youth of Christ the King parish, Cantonment during which they committed themselves to follow Christ, on August 5 at Bellary.

In his message Bishop of Bellary Henry D’Souza urged youth “not be an isolated group”, but to integrate themselves and participate actively in the parish community life”.

Bishop D’Souza encouraged youth “to declare their identity as Catholic youth and bear witness to their discipleship of the Lord.”

Urging the youth “to derive strength from the Holy Eucharist” and recalling the words of St Paul stated: “For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself.” The bishop insisted that the catholic youth must receive Holy Communion with proper disposition.

The Bishop asked the youth to find sustenance in Christ which will enable them find their identity in Christ. That means they cannot resist speaking about him, making him known and loved by many.

The youth day celebration included a cultural program which followed the Eucharistic celebration. Former youth president Mr. Anil Navrang recalled the commitment of the youth of the parish in 2007 to commit themselves totally for Christ and pledged to continue.

Significantly, a sapling was planted on the occasion symbolizing the growth of the youth association.

Mr. Suby Mathew, former youth President and an active youth animator was felicitated at the occasion.

Prizes were distributed at the occasion for the winners in the sports events held for the children of the parish.

Children and youth of Good Shepherd Premashrama, St. Mary’s Convent, Mathe Maria Mahila Pragthi Dhama and Nava Jeevana (Cluny convent) presented various cultural programs.

Miss Evelyn anchored the program, while Fr. Paul A, asst. parish priest and youth animator thanked everyone present.
