Over 5000 Karnataka Youth to Converge for YUVAJANOTSAVA at Belthangady

BELTHANGADY, SEP 21: Over 5000 young leaders from all over Karnataka will meet at Belthangady for a youth convention, Sep. 28-30, aimed at becoming achievers of tomorrow.

The convention, named as known as Karnataka YUVAJANOTSAVA 2012 is being organized by the Youth Commission of Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops’ Council and locally hosted by the Youth Indian Catholic Youth Movement of Belthangady Diocese.

“Over 1,500 youth leaders from all over Karnataka will participate in the 2-day leadership programme which will end with a peace rally of over 5,000 youth on Sep. 30”, said the Regional Chairman of the Youth Commission, Bishop Henry D’Souza of Bellary. ¬†

The theme of the convention is: “Transformed by Faith - Transforming the World” -¬†Networking-Human Dignity-Employability-Caring for the Earth”.

Various young leaders will animate the sessions on various topics such a youth identity, socio-cultural context today and response, young achievers etc.

The convention will be inaugurated by Sri Saleem Ahmed, Director General, Nehru Yuva Kendras, New Delhi and Sri Nalin Kumar Kateel will be the chief guest. Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Belthangady Lawrence Mukkuzhy, Bishop of Puttur Geevarghese Mar Divannasios and Bishop of Bellary Henry D’Souza will be present.

On Sep. 30, there will be a peace march in which over 5,000 youth are expected to participate. It will be flagged off by Sri Vincent Pala, Minister of State for Water Resources and Minority Affairs, Govt. of India.

The peace march will be followed by a convention in which all the Catholic Bishops of Karnataka, Dr. Veerappa Moily, Minister for Power, Govt. of India, Sri Vincent Pala, Minister of State for Water Resources and Minority Affairs, Govt. of India, Mr. Oscar Fernandes, Member of Parliament and NRI Industrialist Sri Ronal Colaco will be present. It will be presided over by Bangalore Archbishop Bernard Moras.

During the convention, outstanding young achievers will be awarded Karnataka Yuva Catholic Ratna awards.

The three day convention will end with a thanksgiving Mass presided over by Archbishop Bernard Moras of Bangalore and concelebrated by the Catholic Bishops of Karnataka.
