altaltBELLARY, MARCH 30: Bishop of Bellary Henry D’Souza flagged off ‘run for Jesus’, a marathon run in Bellary today.

Over a thousand enthusiasts participated in the about 10 kilmeters long run organized on the occasion of Easter.

The event was organized by Aradhana TV under the leadership of Noah and Kiran.

In his inaugural message Bishop D’Souza reminded of the words from the Bible “Compete well in the race of faith; lay hold of eternal life, to which you were called when you made the noble confession” (1 Tim 6:12).

He urged the people to “To conquer the evils of corruption, communalism and casteism with the grace of Easter, spreading the message of peace and harmony”.

Christians from all denominations participated in the event which began at the popular Marian Shrine of Bellary Arogya Mathe and ended at the century old Wardlaw School in the heart of the city.

Vicar General of the Diocese of Bellary, Fr. Chowrappa was the chief guest at the concluding programme.
