BELLARY, 13 APRIL: This Morning Fathers Aruliah, Bhagawanth Raj, PJ Irudhaya Raj, Paul Mark Moras and Paul Raj celebrated their Sacerdotal Silver  Jubilee at St. Antony’s Community  Center, Bellary.

The meaningful celebration was held at the very place the jubilarians were ordained 25 years ago by then Bishop Ambrose Yeddanapalli OFM.

The companions of the jubilarians, Fr. Lourdu Raj Alapaty is doing pastoral ministry in Railigh, USA and Fr. PR Augustine in Perth, Australia.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration was led by the five Jubilarians with Fr. Paul Raj as main celebrant and concelebrated by over 50 priests.

A large number of religious from the diocese, lay faithful, friends and family members of the jubilarians attended.

Bishop Henry D’Souza in his homily at the Eucharistic celebration said “Jubilee is a time of great joy to be grateful to God with an attitude of gratitude which is expressed in actions. For a priest it is expressed through collaboration with other fellow priests to build up God’s kingdom”.

Quoting Pope Francis, “This is precisely the reason why some priests grow dissatisfied, become sad priests, lose heart and become in some sense collectors of antiques or novelties – instead of being shepherds living with ‘the smell of the sheep’, shepherds in the midst of their flock, fishers of men”, reminded Bishop.

Bishop urged the religious and lay faithful “to be close to the priests with affection, respect and encouragement in their ministry of the Word of God and encouraged to pray that they may always be good shepherds”.

During the Eucharist, the jubilarians committed themselves more firmly to the serve in the Lord’s Vineyard - particularly  in the Diocese of Bellary.

At the end of the Eucharistic celebration Bishop Henry felicitated the jubilarians and fondly remembered their other companions namely Fr. Lourdu Raj and Fr. P R Augustine.

Bishop also thanked the family members for their giving their sons for Diocese of Bellary.

Shrimathi Teresa Puthoda, the mother of Fr. Paul Raj honoured the jubilarians and Fr. John sj, brother of Fr. Paul Raj thanked all those gathered.
