altMASKI, 19 APRIL, 2013 (Sagaya): Bishop Henry D’Souza joined the St. John’s parish priest, parishioners, teachers, school children and guests to bless and lay the foundation stone for a new school building in Maski.

“Education empowers and enables; it gives dignity to human persons and prepares them to play their role in the church and society”, declared Bishop of Bellary Henry D’Souza.

“The socially backward and the economically poor should not be deprived of quality education; rather through the intervention of the Church, they should be given the best and equal opportunities”, insisted Bishop D’Souza.

“St. John’s School at Maski should be a model school by setting good standard of education in the backward area”, urged the Bishop of Bellary.

“As almost all the children studying in the school are from¬†the marginalized section of the society, we are grateful to the funding agency Manos Unidas for making it possible to give better facilities to the children”, added Bishop.¬†¬†

At present the school is housed in the boarding home.

Fr. O Vincent, parish priest and manager of St. John’s School thanked the donor agency Manos Unidas for financial help.

Fr.  Arogyanathan, BDBE Secretary, Fr. Yagappa, Diocesan Estate Manager, Fr. Gnanaprakash L., parish priest of Harapur, Fr. Basil assistant parish priest of Maski, Amara Prema Convent Sisters and parish council members were present at the occasion.
