Kowtal Parish Priest Fr. A. Joseph Dies in a Road Accident; Bishop Expresses Shock n Grief

altBELLARY, MAY 21: Parish priest of Kowtal parish Fr. A. Joseph died this morning in a tragic road accident near Harihar.

Fr. Joseph was returning to his parish along with two sisters in a car from Shimoga by his car driven by a driver. Apparently the car hit a tree and Fr Joseph died on the spot and the two sisters along with the driver sustained injuries. The injured are admitted in a private hospital in Davanagere.

Expressing “great shock and profound grief” at the incident, Bishop Henry D’Souza said, “In Fr. Joseph’s death, the diocese lost a good pastor and an enthusiastic priest”.

Bishop condoled the death and expressed his heartfelt sympathies to his aged dad and the bereaved family.

Fr. Joseph was born on 18th May 1976 in Burma Camp, Sindhanur Taluk, Raichur District. 

His dad Mr. Arockiam is advanced in age and his mother Kulandai Teresa has already gone for her heavenly reward.

He had his higher secondary studies at Don Bosco at Pannur, Chengalpattu District Tamil Nadu.

He joined the minor seminary at Mysore in1994 completed his graduation. He did his ecclesiastical studies at St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary, Bangalore and was ordained priest on 17th March, 2005 at St. Antony’s Cathedral, Bellary.

He served as assistant parish priest at Jawelegera and Maski for two years. He did M. Th. in Catechetics at Vishwadeep Institute, Kristu Jyothi College, Bangalore.

Since 2010 till date he was serving as parish priest of Kowtal,Raichur district  and for the last three years he also served as Secretary to diocesan Commission for Catechetics.

The call of our Lord came to Fr. Joseph quite suddenly and shockingly. May his soul rest in peace!
