altBELLARY, NOV 24: The Year of Faith was solemnly concluded in Bellary with a faith procession, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the concelebrated Eucharist today at Bellary.

In his message Bishop of Bellary Henry D’Souza urged the large gathering of Catholics “to be proud of their Catholic faith, to grow in it and to share it with others”.

Quoting from St. Paul’s letter to Corinthians (2 Cor 4:6) Bishop declared that the face of faith is the “radiant face of Christ where we behold the light of knowledge of God’s  glory”.

Bishop D’Souza encouraged “continuing efforts to nourish and be nourished by the Word of God and the Sacraments, so that we become a more Believing, a more Worshipping, a more Serving and a more Evangelizing community”.

Insisting on the need of redoubling efforts to evangelize, Bishop stated, “India and more particularly the marginalized sections of the society need the dignity and respect offered by the biblical world view. It’s Jesus and his teachings give meaning and dignity to all individuals and all communities”.

The concluding programme of Year of Faith began with a faith procession from the St. Anthony’s Cathedral to Bellary Arogya Mathe Shrine which started at 4.00 pm. The procession was held deanery-wise. Each deanery   presented a Tableau based on the theme of faith.alt

It was followed by Eucharistic adoration and dedication at which Fr. Francis Fernades from Shimoga urged all Catholic families to pray and shares the Word of God in order to become the joyful presence of God. He also stated “Families evangelize by living their faith in their families.  He urges all families to model themselves after the holy family of Nazareth.

At the end of the Concelebrated Eucharist, as Jesus sent out the seventy two disciples to preach the good news, Bishop commissioned lay leaders, both men and women from different parishes, who volunteered to be evangelizers.

Copies of New Testament and family prayer books were distributed to facilitate the faith formation in individuals and families.

School children from convent schools presented meaningful song and dance programmes to highlight the significance of the day.

The joyful and faith evoking programme was followed by a fellowship meal for all the participants.
