Bellary Bids Tearful Adieu To Fr. Ajit Pai

BELLARY, JAN¬†16, 2014:¬†Fr. Ajit A. Pai (65), who passed away Jan. 15 morning was given a tearful farewell by hundreds of people, Catholics and others alike, in the St. Anthony’s Cathedral Bellary.

Earlier, the mortal remains of Fr. Ajit Pai were kept in St. Peter’s Church, Laxminagar Camp where he served as parish priest, people paid tributes in large numbers.

The funeral Mass was presided by Bishop Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary and a large number of priests concelebrated.

“Fr. Ajit was always clinging to the Lord to whom he always served”, said ¬†Fr. Chowrappa, Vicar General of the diocese in his homily.

Fr. Walter Menezes, a classmate and a close friend of Fr Ajit paid rich tribute on behalf of the diocese. He declared, “In Fr. Ajit’s death the diocese lost a simple, sincere and compassionate priest”.

Mr. Maxim Albuquerque, a nephew of Fr. Ajit, while paying tribute, recalled his personal experiences stating “my uncle priest was a rare personality he had come across in his life”.

Bishop Henry D’Souza condoled the sudden demise of Fr. Ajit and expressed his heartfelt sympathies to his brother and four sisters and the entire bereaved family.

The representatives paid floral homage to the departed pastor by placing wreaths.  Among them was Anil Lad, MLA, Bellary city.

Thereafter the coffin was taken in a procession and the mortal remains of Fr. Ajit Pai were interred in the Cowl Bazaar cemetery, after a moving prayer service.
