Bellary Marathon – Hundreds Run For Jesus

altBELLARY, APRIL 19: Hundreds of youth, children and youthful adults took part in the Bellary marathon - Run for Jesus, which was held this morning through the city.

The run started from St. Joseph’s Boys’ School, moved through the main streets of the city, ending at the popular Marian Shrine – Bellary Arogya Mathe Shrine church.  

The marathon was held under the auspices of Aradhana TV with the support of United Christian Forum, Bellary.

Bishop of Bellary Henry D’Souza flagged off the run. In his inaugural message, quoting St. Paul he said, “I have fought the good fight, I have run the race and I have kept the faith”, urged all youth to "courageously declare their commitment to Christ and bear witness to him fearlessly".

Bishop emphasised on the need of all Christians promoting unity and working together in the serving the people of the country.

The event was a sign of the vibrant ecumenical spirit prevailing the the district under the aegis of United Christian Forum for which Bishop Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary is the chairman.

Tens of priests, pastors and Christians from the city and villages around Bellary enthusiastically participated in the run.

The large number of youth holding placards and banners bore witness to the Risen Lord.

This was the fourth run held annually to promote Christian unity and fellowship.  

Fr. Chowrappa, vicar general and rector of the Arogya Mathe Shrine, B.I. Kiran, Noah Wilson, Fr. Ivan Pinto Diocesan PRO, Rev. Samuel Prasad and Pastor Prabhakar Rao facilitated the program.
