BELLARY, APRIL 26: Over 300 Catholic children aged 6-16 years participated enthusiastically in the summer camp held at St. Joseph’s Boy’s School, Bellary.

The members of the Catholic Association of Bellary organized the week long summer camp held April 21-26. The participating children belonged to all the five parishes in Bellary city.

The children with keen interest learnt basic catechism, action songs and prayers.

Also, they were introduced to the Holy Bible and biblical personalities such as patriarchs, prophets and so on.

The children enjoyed Biblical films and videos. In addition, they were also introduced to drawing and colouring.

All the participants were given free lunch and snacks.

The camp was inaugurated by Fr. Anthonyraj, Diocesan Finance Officer on April 21.

The parents of the children also attended on the concluding day and they were amazed at the progress made by the children.

The children felt that it was a week spent gainfully by knowing one’s faith and doing it joyfully with others.

Bishop of Bellary Henry D’Souza complimented the Catholic Association for their initiative and hard work. “It is a sign that the laity are coming of age, shouldering their responsibility to impart faith formation and proclamation of the Good News”.

Bishop urged the lay leaders “not to look back, rather to go ahead” by providing faith formation to their children and youth and preparing them for leadership roles.

The team of animators included: Frs. Chowrappa, Charles D’Souza, Paul Raj, Nathan, Ivan Pinto, Fr. Lourduraj, Basil raj, Felix Braganza (Fort), Celine KC (Cathedral), Joseph Y (City), Suby Mathew (Cantonment), and other members of the Association along with Catholic teachers from the city.
