Bishop Henry D’ Souza, Bishop of Bellary blessed and inaugurated Adoration Chapel, Grotto, Belfry at St. Mary’s Church, Manvi, Raichur District on 9th September, 2024.
The Bishop of Bellary celebrated his 75th Platinum Birthday on September 9th, 2024 with a thanksgiving Eucharist concelebrated with large number of priests at Ballari Arogya Mathe Shrine, Maria Nagar, Cantonment, Ballari in the morning. Large number Religious both men and women, people from different parishes of the diocese, youth and children joined at that grand occasion.

It was a coincidence that the Diocese of Bellary also gearing up to celebrate its Platinum jubilee of its erection.

At the felicitation program organized at the Bishop’s House, Bellary a large number of Priests, Religious men and women and lay leaders gathered in gratitude and greeted the bishop.

While sharing his personal encounters and experiences with Bishop Henry, “He is people’s Bishop” said Fr. O. Vincent, the Vicar General at the occasion.

Ms. Arogya Mary, Ballari City parish, Jt. Secretary, Women Commission recalled gratefully how the diocese of Bellary is marching towards the Synodal way under the shepherding of Bishop Henry . She also thanked Bishop Henry for instilling courage in women and lay people to take-up leadership roles in family, parish and society at large and also empowerment of the youth.

Fr.Mari Joseph, Secretary, HRD Commission enumerated the mission and ministry of Bishop in the past 16 years at the Diocese, Regional, National and International levels.

The diocese of Bellary has made great strides under the able leadership of Bishop Henry, particularly in faith formation, education and lay leadership and systematic way of administration.

Bishop Henry was born in 1949 at Kinnigoli Parish of Mangalore diocese. He was ordained priest of the same diocese in 1977. He was the founder of Sandesha, Mangalore. Earlier served as Executive Secretary for CBCI Commission for Social Communications and PRO at CBCI National level.

He is one of the synodal Fathers representing the country at Rome in 2018.
Presently, Bishop D' Souza, Bishop of Bellary is also serving as the Chairman, National Institute of Social Communications, Research & Training (NISCORT), New Delhi,Chairman CBCI Office for Social Communications, Chairman, KRCBC Commission for Social Communications, Chairman, KRCBC Youth Commission, Member, CCBI Youth Commission.

His humility, simplicity and sense of righteousness endears him with people from all walks of life.

Later on that day, to mark the platinum birthday of Bishop and Diocese, he inaugurated the Bellfry and Adoration Chapel at St.Mary’s Church, Manvi, Raichur. A Large number of people from several villages of Manvi taluk of Raichur district gathered to express their gratitude to Bishop. “His life stands as a testimony to faith, dedication and unyielding service to God and humanity, shaping communities and inspiring countless people.

“Life has been a precious gift and it is joy to serve Bellary Diocese and the Universal Church. Years pass but new days arrive” Bishop Henry said on the occasion.

He thanked all the Priests, Religious, and Lay faithful, youth and children
