Sacerdotal Diamond Jubilee of Fr. Maxim Rasquinha SJ, Pioneer of Jagir Pannur – Manvi Mission celebrated

Sacerdotal Diamond Jubilee of Rev. Fr. Maxim Rasquinha celebrated on 17th March at Loyola Nagar, Manvi.

Thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration was the climax of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. The joy was enhanced by the graceful presence of Bishop Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary and a host of Clergy, Religious and Friends.

In his message Bishop D’Souza lauded the work of the Karnataka Jesuits in imparting quality education to the much backward area of Manvi and surrounding villages. “Loyola College and its group of institutions are an agent of social transformation in the district of Raichur”, declared Bishop.

Fr Maxim was one of the pioneers of Manvi -Jagir Pannur Mission, which was officially inaugurated by Bishop Joseph D’Silva, the then bishop of Bellary in 2003. Fr Maxim Rasquinha SJ was joined by Frs Eric Mathias SJ and Josph Moneteiro SJ in his endeavor to establish Manvi -Pannur Jesuit Mission. The Hombelakku of the Jesuits in Manvi is a beacon of hope of the people of Raichur district.

Deeply spiritual, Fr Maxim with his human touch, love for the poor and his pastoral zeal led Jesuit community in Jagir Pannur– Manvi Mission. The Diocese of Bellary places on record the commendable service of Rev. Fr. Maxim Rasquinha SJ for 22 years. He was the Mission Director, Parish Priest of Jagir Pannur Parish, Correspondent and Manager of Loyola Educational Institutions. During his time Loyola High School was raised to a Junior College.

His total commitment to a Pastoral work was exemplary and his life bore much spiritual fruit in the parishes and institutions he served.
