The Diocese of Bellary organized a day long orientation program for the newly formed members of Parish Pastoral Councils, Finance Committees and Facilitators of various Commissions from all the parishes of the diocese.
About 200 members participated in the orientation program held on Sept. 15, 2024 at the Ballari Mathe Bhavan, Opposite to VIMS Medical College, Cantonment, Ballari.

The sessions were ably animated by Bishop Henry D’Souza, the Bishop of Bellary, Rev.Fr. Paul Raj, Coordinator of Diocesan Commissions, Rev.Fr. Arogyanathan, Convener of Diocesan Platinum Jubilee committee and Fr. Mari Joseph.

The program was organized in order to sensitize the PPC and PFC members of their shared responsibility in building the parish into a vibrant Christian community to promote Gospel values of love ,service and proclamation of the Good news in the synodal way.

Highlighting the Platinum Jubilee theme song, Bishop Henry, said “The Church must Rise, Renew and Reach out in order to be a faithful, praying, service oriented, proclaiming and Synodal community”

“As charitable and religious Trusts are to administer community resources, it is a customary norm to operate the Trust accounts JOINTLY. It is in keeping with the synodality, enhancing participation of laity” the Bishop enlightened the gathering and urged the Parish Finance Committee to move forward in this direction.

Bp. Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary urged everyone to work in collaboration with an objective to transform the local Church into a synodal community. He urged everyone to identify the charisms of the laity and take them into confidence at all levels. “Only a community which is in communion with each other through mutual listening and accompaniment grows, he said on this occasion.

In response to Holy Father’s appeal, Bishop Henry gave a call to dialogue with people of other faiths , which is the God-given mission to evangelize at this hour.
