Religious Superiors and HMs to strengthen value education
BALLARY, JULY 29:

The superiors of religious houses and HMs of educational institutions of Bellary Diocese resolve to strengthen value education in schools in the Catholic Diocese of Bellary.

Superiors and HMs participated enthusiastically in a day – long session held on “Value Education” held on July 29, at Bishop’s House, Bellary.

The New Education Policy of India makes it mandatory to impart value education in schools.

Fr. John Peter, Secretary, Diocesan Board of Education proposed a strategy to promote values education in schools.

Bishop Henry D’Souza insisted on the importance of value education and faith formation of school children.

“The value education should include basic knowledge of the Constitution of India, Universal Human Rights, Rights of Children and Women and above all inter-religious relationship,” stated Bishop D’Souza.

“The school children should be given profound human and spiritual values to appreciate the rich religious and cultural diversity of India and promote communal and social amity and harmony,” urged Bishop.

“There is far too much violence and intolerance in the country. It hampers the progress of the nation. Such violence can be avoided only through mutual respect and goodwill towards one another,” opined Bishop.

Bishop also gave tips to deal with crisis situations and to avoid all vulnerable and harmful situations prudently and wisely.

Bishop thanked CRI President Sr. Shanti Chacko RGS, Bellary and all the organisers.
