Bellary Blessed With Four New Priests

BALLARI JUN. 10: Deacon Chandrakant from Chikkahesarur, Deacon Nelson Menezes from Donimalai, Sandur, Deacon Nikson from Munirabad, Koppal and Deacon Suresh Vincent of Maski were ordained priests on 10 June at St. Anthony’s Cathedral, Bellary by Bishop Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary.

The ordination ceremony began at 10.30 AM, with limited participants due to COVID-19 restrictions, strictly following Govt. guidelines. It was attended by only the family members and others closely associated with the candidates to priesthood.

“Vocation to priesthood is a choice of God who empowers them to bring the Good News of Jesus to people to provide pastoral servant leadership,” reminded the Bishop.

Every priest has to count his blessings from God. It’s in counting one’s blessings with gratitude, makes a person happy and contented. A joyful priests, appreciating one’s vocation, is able to make the place flourish wherever he is planted,” said the Bishop.

“With the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown are inviting us to imbibe a new culture of spiritual maturity, social behaviour and safe life-style,” observed the Bishop.

Bishop Henry D’Souza thanked the family members for offering their sons to the service of the Church. He appealed to lay faithful particularly young men and women to commit themselves for the service of the church and the society. It is to be noted that the new priests - Fr. Suresh Vincent, Fr. Nikson and Fr. Nelson Menezes are first priests from the respective parishes of Maski , Munirabad and Sandur.

Chikkahesarur parish from where Fr Chandrakanth come, has already given four priests to the church. Prior to the ordination the Deacons had a 10-days intensive formation program followed by retreat.

A brief felicitation program followed the ordination. Vicar General Fr. Antonyraj introduced the newly ordained priests. Fr. Ivan Pinto, PRO, thanked everyone present.

The ordination ceremony was followed by a fellowship meal.
