A brief history of the parish
About 32 years ago the Telugu Catholics of Lakshmi Nagar Camp migrated from Guntar and beyond, came and settled at Vijayanagar camp. Again they migrated from Vijayanagar camp and settled at Lakshminagar camp. In order to cater to the needs of these families, Bishop Joseph D'Silva created the new mission station of Lakshmi Nagar Camp and made it into a prish later. Mrs.Theresamma,w/o Peter, donated1.69 acres ofland for the church. Fr. John Y.S., who resided in Ballari, was given the additional charge of this new mission station. It was on 29 June 1994, on the feast day of St. Peter the Apostle, Bishop Joseph D'Silva formally inaugurated this new mission station appointing Fr. John Y.S. as its first parish priest. The presbytery was built by late Fr. Y.S. John and blessed by the Bishop Joseph D'Silva on 8 August 1999. Due to the sudden demise of Fr. John Y.S., Fr. Vincent O. took up the task of completeing the construction of the church at Lakshmi Nagar Camp. It was blessed in the year 2003 by Bishop Joseph D'Silva.
