The catechumens of Manvi were baptized on 22nd December 1952 by Fr. Desmond Mc Chire OFM. Fr. Xavier Puthemparambil was the first parish priest. The old church was built by Dr. Desmond Mc Chire OFM. Fr. Sebastian Kulathinal a newly ordained priest came to Manvi in 1953. The people of Katriki were baptized on 21st December 1953. The people of Sunkesvar were baptized on 3rd Feburary 1954.
