A brief history of the parish
Prior to 1947, the Catholics of Munirabad received the pastoral care whenever the parish priest of Cowl Bazaar, Bellary visited Hospet. Among those who ministered atMunirabad were Frs. J.Pinto, Fidelis Magee ofm, Antony Puthenkalam and A.M.L. Pinto. Eucharist was celebrated either in the local club or in a private house. Fr. Thomas Tharayil sj,built the present church at Munirabad in the year 1953. In 1961, Fr. A.M.L. Pinto took up the residence in Munirabad until 1968. Later Frs. Denis Menezes, C.V. Silva sj, Sebastian Kulathinal, Joseph Panjackal, msfs (1972-76), Antony Puthenkalam, Ajit Pai, Harold Pinto, Thambiraj, Paul Fernandes, Jose Prakash and Mark Coelho served in the parish. The present parish priest Fr. Amal Chandra remodeling and extending the churchwith help of Christian Development Council, and other donors.
