Bellary Joins Worldwide Day Of Prayer n Fasting Against Covid-19

BALLARI, MAY. 14: All religions prayer for deliverance from Covid-19 pandemic was held at Bishop House, Bellary on May 14. Top religious leaders of Bellary participated. The prayer meet was organized in response to Pope Francis’ appeal along with Higher Committee of Human Fraternity (HCHF) for world-wide human solidarity through prayer and fasting and works of charity.
Bishop Henry D’Souza, Sri Kalyana Swamiji of Kalyana Mutt, Qazi Siddiqui Mohamit, Brahmakumari Nirmalaji, Sri Basant Kumar Jain, President, Jain Samaj, and Pastor Dr. Prabhakar Rao, President, Pastors Association were present.
In his message, Bishop Henry D’Souza urged “not to fear”, but to firmly trust in the promises of Jesus Christ, who has assured to be with us always. He reminded that God does desire evil or push people. However, the loving God never lets his people down, rather He brings good out of evil. Also, he urged all religious communities to provide relief to the persons worst affected by Covid-19, namely the physically and mentally challenged, the aged, the migrants, the shelterless and those suffering from HIV/AIDS, Hansen disease, cancer tec.
Bishop D’Souza proposed that all the religious leaders to have a meal with residents of Daya Kendra leprosy colony on 24 May, when the Muslim brethren celebrate Ramzan. In his message Sri Kalyana Swami said that the pandemic is a God-given opportunity to lead a disciplined life at all times and in all places. Self-discipline and social discipline is the need of the hour for common good.
Brahmakumari Nirmalaji appealed to all to lead a life of mediation and contemplation. “Real peace and health can be achieved through prayer and service,” she added. Sri Qazi Siddiqui Mohamit Ghouse prayed for human solidarity and brotherhood. Compassionate and merciful God hears the prayers of those who sincerely fast and pray. He prayed that God Almighty shows his mercy on humankind to end this pandemic.
Sri Basant Kumar Jain prayed that all my shun violence and serve the Covid-19 infected and the affected generously. “The pandemic has brought us together to serve the needy and the suffering,” he added.
Pastor Dr. Prabhakar Rao, of AG Church prayed to God’s mercy for an early end of the pandemic. The prayer meet was jointly organized by Inter-religious Dialogue Commission of Diocese of Bellary, United Christian Forum and Catholic Association, Ballari.
The program begun by prayer song by AJ Antony and team, followed by words of welcome and introduction by Fr. Ivan Pinto, PRO & Secretary Inter religious Dialogue Commission. Raju Balraj, President, Catholic Association, Ballari proposed the vote of thanks. Fr. Anthonyraj P. VG, Fr. Cyril Lasrado, Sr. Teresa Peter FS, Chairperson IRD, Fr. O. Vincent, DFO and others facilitated the program. The program concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
