Kathargi, St. Antony’s chapeland Arogya
Mathe Chapelof Manvi parish wereblessed and inauguratedon April 15 by
bishop Henry D’ Souza in the presence of a large gathering of villagers and
parishioners. This was an occasion to witness Christ and his message.
Both Kathargi and Kappagal chapels were constructed in the year 1985 by
then Parish Priest of Manvi, late Fr. Alphonse M.A. Parts of the land on which
the chapels stand were donated by the local villagers for the construction of
place of worship.
Over 52 Catholic children aged 10-15 years, from all over
the diocese participated enthusiastically in the Musical Summer camp in Keyboard and
Guitar held at Deeksha Bhavan, Bishop’s House Campus, Cantonment, Bellary.
Rev. Frs. Alphonse George, P. V. Antony along with Mr. Alwyn D’Cunha from
Mangalore and Mr. Immanuel from St. Antony’s Cathedral Church, C.B., Ballari
organized the ten days camp held from 11 th April till 20 th ,2024.
The children participated with keen interest and learned basic musical notation and
some songs.
The renovated and extended Christ the King Church at Kustagi, Koppal district of Karnataka
was blessed and rededicated on April7 th on Divine Mercy Sunday at 5.30 p.m., by the Bishop of
Bellary, Most Rev. Henry D’Souza. It coincided with the Platinum jubilee year of the diocese of
Bellary. A large number of devotees, Priests,and Religious witnessed the occasion.
The Kustagi Mission was erected in the year 1995 by the late bishop of Bellary Most Rev.
Joseph D’ Silva with Rev. Fr. Antony Fernandes as its first Parish Priest. The Christ the King
Church was built and blessed on 1 st Feb., 1999.

St.Mary’s Hospital in Ballari has a history of over hundred and fiftyyears.Which
wasstarted as the “BritishFemale Hospital” in BritishIndian times probably in the year
1825.
Later Bishop John Hogan,the first Bishop of Bellary purchased the hospital in 1937
and started the medical mission with the help of FMM Sisters.

Trinity Church, Kudathini on December 22. The programme was organized by the Bellary Diocesan Commission for Trans-genders
and Devadasis, facilitated by Fr Jai Prakash and Sister Merin Jose SJC.
Christmas was celebrated joyfully at the Central Prison Ballari on Dec 20. Orgnanised
